Isn't it mentioned on that link that XviD files are MPEG4 ASP compliant, so your default h.263 decoder should play back (at least most) XviD files? Just need to route files with XviD FOURCC identifier...

Unfortunately we currently do not support xvid officially on our devices because of propriatary licencing fees of xvid. So it depends on what coded you have inside the avi, if its playable or not.

same here with xvid, thumbnailer seems to support it, gallery does not show any error. xvid is widely used, if it is not supported by sailfishos the video player is probably useless for many people...

.avi files better support

Seems like I can't play .avi files from sd card though it appears on the gallery but when I try to play the file I get a blackscreen with sound only!
